Summer Road Trip!
Day 10

Philippians 3:8 Even more, I consider everything to be nothing compared to knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. To know him is worth much more than anything else.
Dear Journal,
I met Al Capone today! Well, not the real Al Capone. We went on a cool tour in some underground tunnels where actors played the parts of Al Capone and his crew. Al was a famous mobster in the 1920’s. At the time people were not allowed to drink alcohol, Al would make it and sell it illegally.
At one part of the tour we had to start running because people started shooting at us! Well, not for real. It was sound effects. But it sure felt like we were really running from Al Capone and his thugs!
In the end Al went to prison for 8 years for some of his crimes. While he was there, he got sick. He never got better again. Eventually he died when he was still very young. His story is pretty sad. He did all that crime just to get power and money. It didn’t get him much in the end! He lost everything.
A lot of people spend their life chasing things and money. Don’t get me wrong, I know money is important. We couldn’t take this awesome road trip without it. But the best thing in life is to know Jesus! Paul knew it too. He wrote much of the New Testament. See what he wrote in Philippians 3:8.
Even more, I consider everything to be nothing compared to knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. To know him is worth much more than anything else.
Our life on earth is temporary. We are meant to live forever with God in heaven thanks to what Jesus did for us on the cross. So, it makes sense that should be our main focus in life – getting to know God through his Son Jesus!
This has been the best road trip ever! I know the rest of summer is going to be great too!
