God isn't going anywhere!
2 Corinthians 1:9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. NLT
“Sooo, are you holding up that wall? Ha, ha!” My friend Joely is such a tease! The other day at school while I was waiting for her I leaned up against a wall. I was tired, plus she was taking forever to come! No harm in that, right? I knew I could rely on the wall to hold me up. The wall wasn’t going anywhere.
God is like that wall. He isn’t going anywhere and we can rely on him! Paul and Timothy were two dudes in the Bible who believed in Jesus. They traveled around telling people that they should stop sinning because Jesus died for their sins. Not everyone liked that message so some people tried to kill them. They wrote a letter to the church in a place called Corinth to encourage them.
This is what they said about their situation. “ In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.” This is found in 2 Corinthians 1:9.
They figured that if God could raise the dead (remember God raised Jesus from the dead), they could rely on God to help them when people were trying to kill them.
If that’s true, then I can rely on God when I have troubles! When a bully at school gives me trouble, I can rely on God to give me the help I need. When my little sister teases me at home I can rely on God to help me keep my cool! No matter what the situation I can rely on God.
