Romans 6:23 But God gives you the gift of eternal life. That’s because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done.

If God is all powerful, why did Jesus have to die on the cross to save us from sin? Why didn’t God send an army of angels to defeat the devil and sin?

In the Bible, in Romans 6:23, it says:

But God gives you the gift of eternal life. That’s because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done.

​

God had a plan from the beginning of time. He knew that man would fall into sin. He also knew that one day he would need to send his Son Jesus to earth to rescue the people he loves from sin. Remember, Jesus was called the Lamb of God. He never sinned, he was perfect. This is why he was qualified to take the punishment for our sin.

​

Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for our sin and rose from the dead three days later. Because of this, we can now have eternal life with God. Our body may die one day, but our spirit will live with God forever when we believe what Jesus has done for us on the cross. This is what it means to have eternal life.

​

Easter was all a part of God’s big plan to restore our friendship with him again. That is a reason to celebrate!
