Exodus 24:17 The people of Israel saw the glory of the Lord. It looked like a fire burning on top of the mountain.

Dear Journal,

Today we drove to the mountains. We are going to stay here for a couple of days to explore. It is very flat where we live so mountains are really amazing.

​

Tonight, when the sun was going down behind the mountain, it looked like the top of the mountain was on fire! At first, I thought it was. Then Dad explained it was just the orange light from the sun reflecting off the top of the mountain.

​

Dad said that reminded him of a Bible verse from Exodus 24:17.

Dad explained that in the Old Testament (the days before Jesus came), the people couldn’t see God face to face but only in some kind of image like fire.

​

Everything changed once Jesus came though! Because Jesus died to make us right with God, God’s Holy Spirit can now come and live inside our hearts when we put our faith in Jesus. That means that God is always with us! He doesn’t just make visits like he used to in the Old Testament. Now he is always with us.

​

As amazing as mountains are, I think that God living in me is even more amazing!
