Proverbs 1:8,9 My son, listen to your father’s advice. Don’t turn away from your mother’s teaching. What they teach you will be like a beautiful crown on your head. It will be like a chain to decorate your neck.

Think about what it would be like to have a lavish, jeweled crown on your head and a dazzling chain around your neck. That would be pretty special. People would sure take notice of you!

According to Proverbs 1:8,9 that is what it is like when you listen to your parents!

In Proverbs 1:8,9 King Solomon tells us to listen to our Father and Mother when they teach us. Our parents have a lot of experience and wisdom. They also love us and want to help us. If we choose to listen to them when they teach us, we too will become wise. Then we will stand out from the crowd as if we were wearing a fancy crown and chain around our neck. People will take notice. They will say ‘that kid is wise. They are special!’.
