God's Gift to Us!
Monday
Ephesians 2:8,9 God’s grace has saved you because of your faith in Christ. Your salvation doesn’t come from anything you do. It is God’s gift. It is not based on anything you have done. No one can brag about earning it.
When I woke up this morning there was a new video game controller sitting on my desk! I was confused. Christmas was over. It wasn’t my birthday. It wasn’t even Valentine’s Day yet. When I investigated, I found out that mom and dad had bought it for me. They knew my controller was old and some of the buttons were wearing out. They said they gave it to me because they loved me and knew it would make me happy. Boy did it ever!
Later in the day I read this Bible verse from Ephesians 2:8, 9. It says:
God’s grace has saved you because of your faith in Christ. Your salvation doesn’t come from anything you do. It is God’s gift. It is not based on anything you have done. No one can brag about earning it.
Mom and Dad gave me a great gift today, but God already gave me an even better gift!
We learned last week that sin separates us from God. But Jesus died on the cross so we could be forgiven of sin. That forgiveness is called our salvation. It means we have been saved from sin’s bad effects. We can be close to God again.
This salvation is a gift that God has given to us. We don’t earn it by being good. We receive it by believing in Jesus. Now that is a great gift!
