How can you be saved?

Friday

Acts 2:21 Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

“SATTAR, after Jesus went up to heaven, what happened to his disciples? Where did they go?” asked A.J.

“I could tell you.” SATTAR said. “But I think it would be better to show you!”

“Awesome! Another trip in the time-machine!” A.J and Milo were excited.

When they had landed, A.J., Milo & SATTAR saw a crowd of people gathering.

“Let’s go see what is going on.” Suggested SATTAR.

“SATTAR! Isn’t that one of Jesus’ disciples?”

“You are correct,” SATTAR replied, “that is Peter. Looks like he is going to speak to the crowd.”

Peter spoke.

“God has raised Jesus back to life. We are all witnesses of this. Now  Jesus has been given a place of honor at the right hand of God.

You nailed Jesus to the cross. But God has made him both Lord and Messiah. The Savior you have been waiting for.”

When the people heard this, they felt bad about their sin. They wanted to do something about it. They said to Peter and the other disciples, “Brothers, what should we do?”

Peter replied, “All of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then your sins will be forgiven. You will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Those who accepted his message were baptized. About 3,000 people joined the believers that day.

“Wow, that was amazing!” Exclaimed A.J. “Did you see all those people praying and getting baptized?!”

“They recognized that Jesus was God’s Son, and that when he died on the cross, he took the punishment for their sin.” SATTAR said.

“So, they put their faith in Jesus then?” Milo asked.

“Yes! And because of it, they received the gift of salvation from sin. They are now right with God. And as a sign of that, they got baptized, just like Jesus did in the Jordan River.”

“What will happen to them now, SATTAR?” asked A.J.

“They are no different than people today when they receive Jesus’ gift of salvation. They will meet together, pray, read the Bible and get to know God better every day. Oh, and share their new-found faith with others!”

SATTAR continued, “Peter himself quoted the Bible when he said, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ (Acts 2:21) It was true then, and it is true for today!
